Seasonal Closure – I’m taking a break

I have had a fantastic year of making bespoke items and doing repairs of all types.  I would like to say thanks to all of you who have supported me throughout 2023.  I will soon be closing for the Christmas break.

You have come to visit me in my studio, placed orders online, visited me at Craft Festival in Cheltenham, local events in Highgate, Muswell Hill, and most recently MADE Brighton.  The lead photo was taken at MADE Brighton and shows the fantastic interior of the newly refurbished Corn Hall.

Throughout the year I received commissions for bespoke belts, bags and accessories.  These included card wallets, watch straps, key cases, and dog leads, and I’ve repaired chairs, bags and other items.  Other less common projects included:

  • providing bridle work for a major art work,
  • making a family of five with bespoke English bridle leather passport wallets,
  • collaborating on a range of luggage tags with Hunt and Hope’s fabulous needlepoint.
  • developing a cricket ball leather special edition range of products based around a batch of leather that didn’t measure up to it’s intended use.

Lap top sleeves, e-reader cases, passport wallets and a card case were all commissioned, but the one that I really enjoyed was making up a case for a handheld radio.  This radio is used for listening to the commentary when the owner attended matches.  We met at Lords to finalise details of the case!

My order book is now closed for the year.   Once the doors have closed on Handmade in Highgate on Sunday evening, I will be closing for a Christmas Break.  I am off on a long overdue visit to spend time with family and friends in the Southern Hemisphere. All up, it will be a two month break, and for much of this time I will not have access to the internet.

So I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  I hope that, like me, you will get a chance to spend it with loved family and friends.

I expect to be back at my work bench in the second week of February 2024, revitalised and eager to be working on commissions.  My next in person event will be Craft Festival in Cheltenham on 8 – 10 March 2024.
