I had a lovely day out and about in Muswell Hill for the Autumn Makers Fair. The weather was fair, people were engaging, and happy to be alive. It was made even better when a customer commissioned a bespoke bag.
Working with a customer to design their own bag is one of my favourite things to do. The aim is to have the customer receive a one off bag that will fit their needs. During the discussion, it is not just the colours, size and style that are discussed. We also cover how they expect to use it, what straps are needed – short or longer cross body.
It was a toss up between the small box bag, and the mini box bag. The basic details were set down on the day, and a deposit paid. The customer wanted to have a think about the leather and thread, so I offered to make up some samples of the potential leathers and different coloured stitching for them to consider.

Bespoke Mini Box Bag
Within the week I had popped red, green and turquoise samples through the customer’s door. Colour decisions made, style details finalised over email, I was able to get on with making the bag. The end result a lovely mini box bag with interchangeable short and long straps. The leather was turquoise veg tan leather, lining dark green nappa, and hand stitched in bright green linen thread.
Here is what the customer emailed me after I delivered the bag.
